Objective Evaluation of Subjective Metrics for Interactive Decision-Making Tasks by Non-experts

This work addresses the evaluation of interaction techniques for decision-making tasks performed by non-experts in context multi-objective optimization problems. Such require making trade-offs between antagonistic criteria, according to individual subjective preferences. Evaluating such is made difficult nature tasks, as well a lack rigorous methods assessment. Our primary contributions this problem are two-fold: (1) set metrics including decision accuracy, choice satisfaction, and incentives explore; (2) use pragmatic approach map these onto objective quantitative measures. To illustrate how subjective-objective mapping can be manner, we have conducted an experiment involving 177 participants objectively measure compare two multi-slider domestic energy management. The results constitute secondary contribution.
